Matt Lauer: Lindsay Bailed On Me

Matt Lauer acknowledged on Thursday morning that Lindsay Lohan had scrapped a planned interview with him earlier in the weel–but he was much more diplomatic about the circumstances than several reports about the incident.

Both TMZ and the New York Post reported that Lohan had canceled the interview with Lauer–who flew from New York to her Los Angeles home to film the chat.

According to TMZ, Lauer had already arrived at Lohan’s house when she suddenly claimed she had not been told the interview would be a lengthy one. Lauer reportedly waited around while she and her publicist decided that, in fact, a long interview was not a good idea. Eventually, he left.

The Post reported that Lohan also demanded $100,000 for the interview–something NBC denied.

Lauer did not mention any of this on Thursday’s “Today” show. After a report about Lohan’s latest probation violation hearing, he explained what had happened.

“At the last minute, Lindsay and her people did express concerns about the timing of the interview and it was canceled,” he said. “I think we’re learning more this morning about the reasons for their concern.”

Lindsay Lohan FAILS Sobriety Tests, Due Back In Court Thursday: Reports

Even while confined to her own house, it seems Lindsay Lohan can’t stay out of trouble.

Lohan is due back in Los Angeles court on Thursday, the AP reports, and TMZ is reporting that it’s due to a failed sobriety test. The troubled star was tested twice last week, the website writes, testing negative for drugs but positive for alcohol on one of the tests.

Lohan has been under house arrest — she recently filmed a commercial for Beezid.com from her home — and the L.A. County Probation Department will request that she be sent back to jail; she was assigned to wear an ankle bracelet in her home for 35 days, the end result of a four month sentence she received for violating the terms of her probation following a 2007 stint in jail, which she did by stealing a necklace from a Los Angeles jewelry store.

She had rejected plea deals earlier in the case, confident that she’d win.

“It’s a scary place and a place that I don’t wish on anyone,” she told Life & Style Magazine of her time in jail.

Blogger Perez Hilton confirmed with multiple sources that Lohan had failed one of two tests last week.

Lohan Reveals Joys, Biggest Bummer Of House Arrest

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles prosecutors say Lindsay Lohan will return to court Thursday so a judge can consider whether she violated her probation while serving house arrest.

District Attorney’s spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons says Lohan’s case is expected to be called at 10 a.m., but no other details were available. She says her office has not received any documents laying out the specific allegations against the 24-year-old actress.
