Avril Lavigne & Lindsay Lohan In Public Fight

It’s America vs. Canada in a young celebrity showdown, as word of a bitter battle between Lindsay Lohan and Avril Lavigne is spreading throughout the entertainment world. As rumor has it, Lindsay had a blowout with the Canadian rocker-actress at the infamous Chateau Marmont in Hollywood — a hotspot for ridiculous celebrity shenanigans. Apparently the U.S. vs. Canada rivalry began when Lavigne blasted Lohan for being “fake” and “a loser” when the ‘Mean Girls’ star tried to approach her table.

Lindsay Lohan Mocked In E*Trade Filing

The vitriol in the user-generated comments is particularly harsh, with the New York Post quoting one as saying, “[Lohan is] a pot-stirring, lazy, irresponsible, disrespectful little drama queen,” while another reads, “She is the classic child star. A little success (parents pushed her into the business) at a young age and then she thinks she’s the poo.” Many of the comments are laced with profanity and discuss Lohan’s past troubles with the law at length.

Lisa Derrick: Robert Rodriguez’s Star Packed Cinco de Mayo Card to AZ

2010-05-05-Picture70.png
A very special Cinco de Mayo card to Arizona from director Robert Rodriguez, starring Jessica Alba, Robert De Niro, Lindsay Lohan, Don Johnson, Cheech Marin and Danny Trejo as the title character Machete.

Calling it an “illegal” trailer, Rodriguez takes the best of Mexplotation, using subjects ripped straight from the headline, and slams out a fast paced “trailer” which he “leaked” to Aintitcool.com:

MACHETE has some Cinco De Mayo words for you!!!…Rodriguez is calling this his “Illegal” trailer. You see, Robert talked Fox into letting him put together a Cinco De Mayo message for ARIZONA – given. Well, the way things are in Arizona at this moment – it is kinda insane that there is a movie that was shot over a year ago waiting to be released that is about – THIS EXACT ISSUE…

Twanna A. Hines: Sex Bombs and Legalized Prostitution in Times Square

Oh, to be alive when Deep Throat‘s Linda Lovelace, not car-bomb suspects, brought the FBI to Times Square. The porn star was likely less menacing. Given reports Lindsay Lohan is slated to appear in a biopic about the celebrity with a clitoris inside her neck, it’s a interesting time to discuss why one of the original flick’s actors was arrested and revisit whether it’s time to legalize sex work.

Although I’m a sex and relationships writer, I’ve likely watched less smut than the SEC. I’ve not yet seen the 1972 classic in question in its entirety because it isn’t available on Hulu or Netflix. Yet, I recently streamed Inside Deep Throat — the 2005 documentary about, among other things, legal difficulties the film’s director, distributors, producers and actors encountered. In it, co-star Harry Reems asks, “Do I belong in jail for five years for acting in Deep Throat?”

Reems was indicted on federal obscenity charges, though the conviction was eventually overturned.

Films that aren’t coy about coitus reveal much about society. I don’t believe the actions of sex workers — such as prostitutes, escorts, many hardcore pornographic films actors or others who exchange sex for pay — should be prosecuted like those who, for example, premeditatedly park vans with wired propane tanks in the heart of Midtown.

Speaking of violence, criminalizing sex work also renders those employed in the industry nearly defenseless in the workplace. Although laws exist to protect bartenders from secondhand smoke, coal miners from unsafe working conditions and construction workers from asbestos, we offer little protection for sex workers.

“More people have been victimized who never come forward, because the fear of arrest prevents them from reporting crimes, including violent crimes, against them,” says Melissa Ditmore, editor of the Encyclopedia of Prostitution and Sex Work. “The fact that sex workers have been ignored, and even arrested, when they try to report violence encourages predators.”

So, here’s a question: Is it time to legalize sex work? Please feel free to use the comments section below to share your thoughts.

Lindsay Lohan All Smiles After 7-HOUR Deposition (VIDEO)

Lindsay Lohan was all smiles as she and mom Dina left a seven-hour deposition Tuesday in LA.

Lindsay is being sued for allegedly taking unwilling passengers on a wild, drunken car ride in 2007. She skipped her first two depositions so Dina came to chaperone her to this one. Lindsay’s Twitter feed indicates it went well.

“check out the manic deposition entry, etc. today! me with my mommy @dinamlohan Successful Day at Deposition,” she wrote.

Dina says reports that she and Lindsay partied until 2 am the night before the deposition are lies.

“That is an absolute lie, we went out for dinner to the Chateau Marmont and we were home by 11 o’clock, I don’t know where they got that from, my ex [Michael Lohan] put that out and it is an absolute lie,” she told Radar. “He was at Industry until 2:30 in the morning, he was the one who was out.”
