i couldnt believe how long this debate went on for….it was atleast 3 pages, dont you guys have anything better to do then argue with people your NEVER going to see?
Of course there are voters on both side that were ignorant. I agree. Some people voted for McCain because he was white. Others voted for Obama because he was black. Sadly many voters weren’t even aware of the current state of affairs or the beliefs of each candidate. It isn’t right. I think McCain is a wonderful man. I think he gave greatly to the United States. I just hold different values than his. I voted for Obama because I believe his ideas will gain the results that I want.
not true and it’s not all about you all the time now. I just don’t feel the need to debate AMERICAN politics with someone who is identified as being from the United Kingdom. because that is what your profile indicates. there are enough misguided people here to debate with, I just don’t feel the need or desire to debate with someonne over polociecs that do not affect them, as they would an American citizen
I did not represent myself at all, so how could I have misrepresented myself? I thought we were having a debate about what the president elect said. How come you’re talking about me all the time now? So it is obvious that you realized that your argument did not really convince and you decided to talk about something else.
now if you misrepresented yourself than That’s not my problem, do you anywhere on your profile in anyway give the impression that you are a US citizen?
I wasn’t bailing on my point, and I didn’t change the subject. I told you where to find the information you requested and then I stated that since you were not a citizen of the United States your oppinion didn’t matter.
It’s a fallacy. Do you realize how many Americans, Canadians, and people from all over the world live in Britain? Oh well… I knew this was going to happen. It always does on the internet. Whenever someone’s cornered in a discussion, they change the topic and start talking about the person they’re haveing a debate with. Whatever, you did not really rpove your point. But never mind.
that’s a fairly logical conclusion, yes
Errr, my location is automatically the country I’m a citizien of?
“I do not know how or why you have decided to start talking about what you think my citizienship is.”
I don’t know where I would have got that idea except from maybe your profile that says you are from the United Kingdom. and the last time I checked people from the United Kingdom were NOT United States citizens. So unless you lied, your oppinion does not really matter
I do not know how or why you have decided to start talking about what you think my citizienship is. But I suggest you stick to things you know for certain. Speculating about Obama or people you are discussing politics with is just a diversion. As to what Obama meant, check 14:00 onwards. It turns out that my interpretation of his quote is correct. He effectively says that the teacher in east LA is just as important for the nation’s security as the soldier defending the country in a war.
Never mind, you can look it up if you want, but it turns out your oppinion on this subject doesn’t matter. You are not a US Citizen and therefore the establishment of the National Civilian Security Force does not affect you at all. So wethere you agree with it or not is unimportant
it is from a campaign stop in Colorado Springs CO. July 2, 2008 youtube have the entire speech. it is about 28 minutes long and the portion on the National Civilian Security Force is about half way through. the quote I gave you is a DIRECT quote
You’re missing a very important point: maybe we have both been wrong in assuming that Obama made the statements. Is there anywhere they can be looked up? Also, you added the “totally new” element later on. That strikes me as odd. It just doesn’t sound like Obama. Where can I look up this statement so I can clarify this issue?
A) youve already agreed that BHO made the statement where he called for the National Civilian Security Force.
B) Said force is NOT already in existence.
Therefore if A and B are both true, and they are, said National Civilian Security Force would HAVE to be a new entity.
You dont need a direct quote saying I want to create a NEW force. If he calls for one, and it doesnt exist, logic dictates that it is new.
Well Obama didn’t use those words. Where is that quote from? Where can I look it up?
Unless we already have a National Civilian Security Force that I don’t know about, yes this would be a totaly new thing.
“Totally new”? That doesn’t sound like him at all. Where did you get that quote anyway? Is there anywhere I could look it up on a reliable source on the internet perhaps?
NO he said we need a a totaly new Force for national security. A civilian force. as POWERFUL, as STRONG and as well FUNDED as the US military.
He didn’t say anything about expanding anything. He just sid what he said. he didn’t say anything about trying anything the Nazis did.
Johann, please focus, and stop equivocating. NATIONAL DEFENCE, BHO didn’t say anything about expanding the fire birgade.
I do happen to think that firefighthers defend. People’s lives for instance. Many more people would have died on 9/11 if firefighters had not been there to defend their lives.
excuse me…. but could you please tell me which charity organization is directly responsible for this or any other nations NATIONAL DEFENCE? the red cross? the cancer association?. and you can’t honestly believe that the “fire brigade is in any way a national defence organization.
Well, every country’s got a population, for starters. And then there are institutions, like the jurisdiction, the fire brigade, charity organizations, etc…
give me an example of any force that is used for some countries NATIONAL DEFENCE that is NOT armed… please give me a single example
