So many McCain supporters are throwing Powell under the bus by trying to smear him and his record. Then, they claim it is simply a black supporting a black.
Their strategy is just so transparent and they don’t get that people are not stupid.
This is amazing. I’ve always had a lot of respect for Powell,and this just cements it. It’s not his choice, even, so much as it is his reasons, which are obviously well thought out and with the good of the whole country considered. I really do hope that he gets to be Secretary of something again, because he’s got a level head and the full acceptance of the responsibilities such a position entails- he wasn’t a yes man under Bush, and he most certainly wouldn’t be under Obama.
Isn’t this supposed to be America? Not Iraq or any other place where liberty doesn’t exist. It ironic that so many sound like what you say you hate!

So many comments only show hate, cowardice and fear. At least Powell took the time to provide a comprehensive rationale as to why he’s going one way vs the other. I always thought in US, people valued free speach, working hard, achieving success and protecting your country! Powell has done just that & more, but because he endorses someone you don’t like, out come the comments. Pathetic!
I find it so interesting to watch so many people try to make this presidential contest about so many things that really don’t matter. On both sides, there are so many outright lies, half truths, racism and fear mongering!

wow what an amazing endorsement. man i almost was in tears by how much candor was in this speech and especially the story about the soldier from New Jersey.
I’ve always asked that question..What the hell is wrong in being a Muslim? Would that have made him not a good candidate? Would that have made him a radical Islamic extremist? Most Muslims are good people. Only the few distort the teachings for their own sick gain.
Credibility or none, he makes very convincing arguments here. Too bad for Powell that he got caught up towing the company line on Iraq, if not for that he may have been president someday.
