Designer Giles Deacon spoke to a crowd at the Art of Fashion event in London on Wednesday night and he made mention of taking the helm at Ungaro — previously the fashion house with a future hanging by a thread after hiring Lindsay Lohan as its artistic advisor. Elle UK reports that Deacon remarked, “I never thought at the start of this year that I’d be cleaning Lindsay Lohan’s desk out.” Kind of an amazing visual. We wonder what she kept in there, but Giles didn’t get into the details.

Deacon showed his first collection for the fashion house in October as part of Paris Fashion Week. He explained, “I’m interested in women who have got character and experience and an opinion about things. It’s very much to do with characters…I don’t like acres of faceless girls walking.”

Another thing he’s interested in: tarantulas, apparently. He recalled that several well-known store directors wouldn’t step foot into his showroom after he placed (fake) spiders in the cleavage of models at his Spring 2010 show.

NEW YORK – Lindsay Lohan’s mother says her daughter’s treatment for addiction at the Betty Ford Clinic has been “life-changing.”

Dina Lohan says the world-renowned addiction center in Rancho Mirage, Calif., is “an amazing place” that has really dug into the “Mean Girl” actress’ problems and brought them to the surface. She said Lindsay, who was seen shopping on an approved outing over the weekend, is happy and relaxed.

Her mother said on NBC’s “Today” show on Monday: “She’s just a different person.”

Jail and rehab have failed for the actress in the past. She was sentenced to stay at Betty Ford until early January.

Lohan’s interview with Matt Lauer was far less contentious than a similar one with Lauer this summer, and much shorter.

After completing about five weeks of rehab at the Betty Ford Center, Lindsay Lohan took an excursion to wallet-friendly Forever 21.

Lohan, 24, strolled into a local Palm Desert, Calif., mall on Wednesday with an unidentifiable female. She headed into Forever 21 and bought about $250 worth of loungewear, a source tells PEOPLE.
