Take a look around you, check out who’s landing TV shows, movie roles, product endorsements and oodles of fans — it’s the new Hollywood goody goodies, not the toxic trainwrecks.

Kim Kardashian who told Jay Leno “I’ve never been a drinker, I’ve never gotten into drugs,” when she dropped into his Aug. 31 show, is the new Queen of the squeaky clean set. And listen, you need two hands to list all her business ventures. Besides starring in the reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and executive producing The Spin Crowd, starring PR meisters Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck, she’s got a clothing line for Bebe, Kardashian Glamour Tan for Sephora, Fusion Beauty, Kim Kardashian perfume etc. — etc. — you get my drift!

Other members of Hollywood’s new squeaky clean club are Justin Bieber, Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, The Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Alba, Heidi Klum and former heroin-addict/new healthy mom, Nicole Richie.

Can we talk about how Bieber and Taylor Swift have burneded up the charts, filled concert stadiums and have broken into movies. Hey, they’re too busy recording, performing and having fun, to drug-it-up!

It’s no longer in any way cool to get-arrested Paris Hilton-style for dropping a bag of cocaine out of your “it’s-not-my-purse,” or show up at your probation officer meeting in a sheer top, Lindsay Lohan-style.

Don’t believe me? Here’s what one Hollywood manager tells his clients: “Directors and producers are squeamish to work with actors who have reputations as party animals,” he says:

Lately, directors and producers have been really thorough before they cast anyone… There was a time when directors didn’t get involved with personal stuff. They’d turn a blind eye. Nowadays they want to know what’s going on with their stars. If the stars turn out to be a druggie or an alcoholic, it’s on their shoulders.

Robert Rodriguez is one of those rare filmmakers whose movies — for better or worse — always come alive with his sheer enjoyment of making them.

In the case of Machete, that’s a good thing. Unlike his corny kids’ movies (Spy Kids, Shorts), Machete bleeds pure entertainment. Returning to the crank-it-up style Rodriguez brought to his half of the vastly underrated Grindhouse, Machete comes out swinging — and usually what it’s swinging includes an extremely sharp blade.

In fact, “Machete” was first glimpsed as a coming-attractions trailer between the two halves of Grindhouse. With its delicious catch-phrase, “You fucked with the wrong Mexican,” it promised over-the-top action and a dizzying cast that ran the gamut from Jessica Alba to Lindsay Lohan, built around character actor Danny Trejo in the title role.

Rodriguez delivers on the promise of that trailer and then some. Indeed, the first 10 minutes of Machete contains more wild action than the climax of most ordinary action films.

No doubt there will be those critics who don’t appreciate Rodriguez’s gory aesthetic. His style here is pure drive-in exploitation film, circa 1973, right down to the choppy edits. Everything is overstated and takes the action two notches farther than you’d expect. Rodriguez is like a kid with a new toy (or an old favorite), amping things to suit his own pleasure center, perpetually asking the question, “Wouldn’t it be cool if …?”

Like, wouldn’t it be cool if Machete, a Mexican federale played by the menacingly scowly Trejo, attacked a drug lord’s headquarters, chopped off the hand of a guy with a gun in it, then picked up the gun, and used the severed hand to squeeze the trigger?

Or: wouldn’t it be cool if Machete mounted a pair of gatling guns on a motorcycle, then flew it off a ramp, shooting bad guys as he soared through the air?

Or … well, put it this way: If Rodriguez could think of it, he has included it in this film.

NEW YORK — Lindsay Lohan wants your respect.

In the upcoming issue of Vanity Fair, the 24-year-old actress admits making mistakes in the past and “dabbling in certain things.”

I’m not kidding. When Lindsay flashes her probation officer or wears FU nails — shrinks see a frightened little girl. Here’s why.

Has she worn out every ounce of sympathy you have? Well, here’s why wearing a sheer top with no bra and visible nipples should actually make you very concerned for La Lohan.

I too rolled my eyes when I saw this new photo taken today Aug. 27 of freshly released-from-rehab Lindsay, entering a Santa Monica courthouse, to meet with her probation officer, according to TMZ.com. Lohan is on probation at least until the end of November while she attends court-ordered psychotherapy and behavioral therapy.

Showing up for a first meeting with your probation officer would seem to require a certain level of decorum — not gold -studded short denim shorts, visible nipples and a plaid shirt. “If I were her attorney, I’d tell her to dress differently — in a classic skirt and blouse — for example,” says Sheila Forman, an LA attorney-at-law and clinical psychologist. “When you dress like that, you’re conveying the message that it doesn’t matter what the probation officer thinks… I’m going to act the way I want and do what I please,” points out LA-based criminal defense attorney, Steve Cron. Lindsay has taken disrespect to a whole new level — remember the FU nails she wore to her court hearing?

“She’s trying to say ‘up yours’ to the probation officer. It’s very confrontational and defiant,” agrees Rebecca Roy, a licensed psychologist in Beverly Hills, who specializes in treating members of the entertainment industry.

“It’s also very destructive. She’s undermining her legal efforts to show herself in the best light,” points out Forman. ” At some point down the road, her lawyer is going to be asking the probation officer what he or she thinks; if she has an attitude or not,” says Cron. “Her sentence can’t be lengthened, but she’ll be asking for probation to be shortened or certain conditions to be lifted, and the judge is going to ask the probation officer what he or she thinks… if the report says anything about her having an attitude or an unwillingness to comply, her probation won’t be lifted.”

Lindsay’s self-destructive “defiance” is breathtaking, don’t you agree? Doesn’t it seem to be clear that she’s learned nothing from her 14 days in jail and 22 days in rehab?
